The ads in The Wall Street Journal are generally loud, brash and confident, just like the people who read them. For BB&T Capital Markets, I wanted to speak with a different kind of confidence, the quiet kind. The campaign boiled down to a layout stripped of any visuals and a voice that acknowledges, hey Goldman Sachs, hey Merrill Lynch, there's a dark horse on the Street ready to earn business the old-fashioned way, by earning it (with apologies to the late, great Smith Barney campaign, for those who remember it).
